Terms of Service

01. Acceptance

By creating a Rankd.golf account you accept these Terms. They form a binding agreement between you and Saltwater Digital Limited, a company registered in England & Wales (company number 16616025) with a registered office at 42 East Street, First Floor Offices, Newquay, England, TR7 1BE. References to "we", "us", and "our" mean that company. If you don't accept these Terms, don't use the app.

02. Who can use Rankd.golf

• You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
• One person per account. Don't share your sign-in. Don't sign in on behalf of another person without their explicit consent.
• You're responsible for everything that happens under your account.

03. Score integrity

The credibility of the rating depends on honest scoring. By posting a card you confirm that:

• The round was played in person, on a real course, from rated tees with a published Slope Rating and Course Rating.
• Both members of the duo actually played the round being submitted.
• The score posted is the duo's actual scramble gross score (not a best-ball, not a fourball, not a simulator round).

Scores that materially outperform a duo's combined handicap may be flagged for review. We may withhold ELO updates while a flag is investigated and reverse them if the round is found to be fabricated. Repeated integrity violations may result in account suspension or removal.

04. Matches

• Once a match is confirmed, both duos have seven days to submit a card.
• If a duo doesn't post inside the window, the match auto-resolves at the deadline. Walkovers may apply.
• ELO updates are final once a match resolves. We don't retrospectively adjust ratings except to correct integrity violations under section 3.

05. Your content

You retain ownership of the data you submit to Rankd.golf (your profile, your scores, your match history). You grant Saltwater Digital Limited a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use that data to operate the service. That means:

• Showing your username, country, and current rating to opponents and on leaderboards.
• Including your match results in another player's history (your opponents' ratings depend on it).
• Generating public share cards at rankd.golf/u/[username] and rankd.golf/match/[id] when you or another player initiates a share.

We don't sell your data and we don't license it to third parties for their own use.

06. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Submit fake scores or otherwise misrepresent results.
• Use bots, scripts, or automation to interact with the service.
• Harass, threaten, dox, or impersonate other users.
• Scrape data from the service.
• Attempt to disrupt, exploit, or reverse-engineer the service beyond what local law permits.
• Use Rankd.golf to settle bets, run unlicensed gambling, or charge other users for access without our written consent.
• Treat ratings as having monetary value. Your rating is for competitive play; it can't be bought, sold, traded, gifted, or cashed out.

07. Suspension + deletion

We may suspend or remove accounts that violate these Terms. We will normally give notice before doing so unless the violation presents an immediate risk to other users or the integrity of the rating.

You may delete your account at any time: Profile -> Account -> Delete account. Deletion is described in the Privacy Policy.

08. Service availability

We do our best to keep the service running, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may change, suspend, or remove features without prior notice. Pre-launch and during the first months after launch, expect some maintenance windows and the occasional bug.

09. Disclaimers

Rankd.golf is provided as-is and as-available.

The ELO ratings, leaderboards, and match outcomes on Rankd.golf are for competitive fun and informal ranking. They are not an official WHS Handicap Index, are not issued by a Handicap Authority, and should not be used in place of one for handicap-affecting decisions at your club.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties (including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement). We don't warrant that the app will be error-free or that ratings will be perfectly accurate.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Saltwater Digital Limited shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of Rankd.golf. Our total cumulative liability is capped at the greater of (a) the amount you've paid us in the prior 12 months or (b) £100. The app is currently free; for most users this cap is £100.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law (for example, liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud).

11. Governing law + disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes shall be resolved in the courts of England and Wales, except where mandatory consumer law gives you the right to bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be flagged in the app and on this page; the "Last updated" date above always reflects the most recent revision. Significant changes to your rights or our liabilities will be notified to active users in-app at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use Rankd.golf after a change constitutes acceptance.

13. General

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Saltwater Digital Limited about Rankd.golf. They supersede any prior understandings.

If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable by a court, the remaining provisions stay in full effect.

If we don't enforce a provision on one occasion, that isn't a waiver of our right to enforce it later.

You can't transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms. We may assign ours to a successor entity in the event of a merger, acquisition, or reorganisation; we'll notify active users in-app if that happens.

We're not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including outages of the third-party services we depend on (Apple, Google, Supabase, Sentry, Vercel, Expo), changes to operating-system rules, or force-majeure events.
